Year 6 PGL trip to Devon in July 2011

On 4th July Year 6 journeyed to Devon for their end of year PGL trip. We had a fantastic time and we’ve made so many great memories. We took part in so many activities which were so fun but sometimes also a little bit scary!

Our week started off with the Sensory Trail and Mountain Biking in which we all were given one of our great instructors, Ben. We rode down a couple of steep hills in the fields of Beam House and there took place an amazing forward flip done by Yasir on the Mountain Bikes. In the afternoon we had Quadbiking and Fencing/Archery. I had a dual in fencing with Miss Towers and I must say she is very competitive but it was a lot of fun!

The next day we took off with Zip Wire and Trapeze which was as exciting as everyone wanted to touch the tyre at the end of the wire. It was quite scary climbing up that high but everyone had a go and most of us reached the top! The afternoon started with travelling to the beach for Stunt Kite and Speed Sailing. Everyone that I saw was very good at Stunt Kite because all the Kites were flying high above in the sky helped by the extremely strong winds. Aymaan was extremely good at Speed Sailing the instructor, Siobhan was describing him as a pro! The afternoon then drew to an end and it was then time for our Campfire with Jacob and Ben. We sang songs, ate marshmallows and had a great time.

Before we knew it it was Thursday and we only had one full day left to enjoy ourselves.  We started with Abseiling and Climbing in which nearly everyone reached the top of the climbing board. Then in abseiling I had a race with Miss Towers and beat her down the Abseiling wall. Our afternoon kicked off nicely with our Coastal Walk where we got to taste the Ice-Cream from Devon which was very tasty. This is where we saw the big beach Westward Ho! It is huge alright!

On Friday some of us started with Fencing or Archery and then got our luggage into the coach and started our journey back. I would like to thank Mr Woods for giving us this opportunity to come to PGL. We had such a lovely time, increased our confidence and made some beautiful memories to take with us when we leave. I will really miss everyone when I go off to High School!
