STARS 

STARS (Sustainable Travel: Active, Responsible, Safe) is a community project led by Transport for London (TFL) that inspires young Londoners to travel to school sustainably, actively, responsibly and safely by championing walking, scooting and cycling. STARS supports pupils' well-being by encouraging these healthier travel behaviours and habits as well as helping to reduce congestion at the school gates and improve road safety and air quality.

To make active travel possible for everyone at Beaconsfield Primary School, our pupils undertake different initiatives, events, and activities across the year encouraging active travel. Examples of initiatives, events, activities include Road Safety Week, Bikeability training and the twice yearly Active Travel Campaign.

Pupil voice is important to us (UNCRC Article 12) so we have appointed ‘Junior Travel Ambassadors’ from year groups who are responsible for keeping the school up-to-date of any important information for the whole school to participate encouraging active school travel.

The JTA group currently meet three times a year with the School Travel Champion to discuss and share current initiatives, events and activities. They then share information with their classes.
