Volunteer at Beaconsfield
Why volunteer?
Working with children is very rewarding and enjoyable and can help volunteers to gain experience and skills which will be useful in their own careers or academic studies. We will provide you with training to ensure you are able to support the children effectively in whatever capacity you are able to volunteer with us.
What does it involve?
Studies have shown that reading regularly has a significant impact not only on children’s performance at school but also on their success in later life. We are primarily looking for adults to listen to children read but also to support them in other ways with their learning.
Who can volunteer?
We welcome adult volunteers from all backgrounds. You just need to be over the age of 18.
How much time will you be expected to commit?
We are grateful for whatever time you are able to give. We will be able to schedule your time more efficiently to support children if you are able to commit to the same time(s) each week.
What is the application process?
To become a volunteer, you will be asked to complete a short application form. Application forms can be obtained from the school office or see the link below. As your role will involve working alongside children, we will also need to carry out a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Once this has been completed, you will meet with a member of the leadership team at school who will be able to give you information and training about your role.
