Volunteer at Beaconsfield

 We need your help!

We are looking for volunteers from the local community to help support the school in a variety of ways including:

  • Listening to children read: Studies have shown that reading regularly has a significant impact not only on children’s performance at school but also on their success in later life. Providing additional opportunities for children to read 1 to 1 with an adult would be of huge benefit.
  • Providing classroom support: This would involve supporting children with their learning in lessons and providing other support to the class such as preparing resources.
  • Helping in our Edible Garden: We are fortunate to have an Edible Garden which is designed to help our city dwelling pupils understand where the food we all eat comes from! It also develops their understanding of environmental issues and healthy food choices. We are desperate for volunteers (ideally with some basic gardening skills!) to help us make the best use of this fantastic resource for our pupils.

Why volunteer?

Working with children is very rewarding and enjoyable and can help volunteers to gain experience and skills which will be useful in their own careers or academic studies. We will provide you with training to ensure you are able to support the children effectively in whatever capacity you are able to volunteer with us.

Who can volunteer?

We welcome adult volunteers from all backgrounds. You just need to be over the age of 18.

How much time will you be expected to commit?

We are grateful for whatever time you are able to give. We will be able to schedule your time more efficiently to support children if you are able to commit to the same time(s) each week.

What is the application process?

To become a volunteer, you will be asked to complete a short application form. Application forms can be obtained from the school office or by downloading the form here: Volunteer Application Form.

As your role will involve working alongside children, we will also need to carry out a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Once this has been completed, you will meet with a member of the leadership team at school who will be able to give you information and training about your role.

Any questions?

If you have any questions about volunteering or think you may be able to share your expertise with the school in a different way, please speak to Mrs Tonge (Co-Head Teacher) or any member of the leadership team. Alternatively you can email the school office: admin@beaconsfield.ealing.sch.uk
